Jim Tung, Ph.D.
Research Scientist
Dr. Jim Tung earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College and a B.S. in Chemistry (ACS certified) from Truman State University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Society of Plastics Engineers.
Prior to joining AAPPI, Dr. Tung spent several years teaching at the undergraduate and high school levels were he was recognized several times for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Tung is interested in wood composite fuel pellets, environmentally benign polymer processing, bio-based polymer composites, and use of nanotechnology.
Some of his past and present projects include the following:
Understanding the formation process of Wood-Composite Fuel Pellets
Correlating shrink-film processing conditions with thermal analysis and
rheological
properties
