| The FUSION UV SYSTEM uses intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation to activate photochemical reactions, involved in UV-curable inks, adhesives and coatings. This system offers higher productivity in less time, with a reduction in waste, energy use, and pollutant emissions. In particular, there is little to no use of solvents and shorter curing times compared to conventional thermal extrusion systems. |

| HOT TACK HEATSEALER (HTH2) is used to test the strength of heatseals formed in the flexible packaging industry. The AAPPI HTH2 is a system integrating four machines with functionality for Hot Tack, Heatsealing, Heatsealing and Ultimate Strength, or Peel Strength of Heatseals or Laminations. This instrument can control the die temperature to the accuracy of ± 0.2 °C coupled to timing circuits accurate to ± 2 milliseconds. |

| LIMITING OXYGEN INDEX CHAMBER (LOI) accurately determines the relative flammability of plastics and other materials by measuring the minimum oxygen concentration that will support combustion according to ASTM D2863 and ISO 4589 specifications. The test specimens are burned in a precisely controlled atmosphere of nitrogen and oxygen. The oxygen index is calculated based on a series of experiments at different atmospheres. |

The
FOURIER TRANSFORM INFRARED SPECTROMETER (FT IR)
MICROSCOPEis a powerful tool to identify chemicals in a material. Infrared (IR) spectrometers measure the wavelength and intensity of the absorption of the IR spectrum by a sample. The IR spectra gives information based on the types of chemical bonds (functional groups) in pure substances (a way to identify those compounds) as well as how the functional groups of different compounds interact with each other in blended materials. It can also be used to determine impurities in a variety of materials. The AAPPI FTIR system is capable of measuring from the Near IR (15000 cm-1) to the Far IR (50 cm-1) with a resolution of 0.25 cm-1. Capable of operating in transmittance and attenuated total reflectance (ATR) modes on film, liquid, and solid sample cells and with the coupled visible-IR microscope, this FTIR is a powerful tool. |
